Welcome to Saint Ansgar Lutheran Church blog.
We are an old Danish, ELCA, Lutheran Church in the Middle of Waterloo, Iowa.
Our Pastor Jim Gardner has been with us since Jan. 1994. We hope he never leaves.

We are an active congregation with Mission and Bible Study being very important to us. The congregation helps support a Missionary family. Each month we collect money and items for other non profits in the area. We have five adult Bible Studies going each week. They are a wonderful way to grow spiritually. Fellowship is something we also enjoy. Our members meet together regularly for Pot Luck on the second Wednesday of each month. During Lent we have meals each week.

If you are looking for a church you are more than welcome to visit. Sunday Worship is at 9:00 am and Monday at 6:30 pm. We have open communion at St. Ansgar. If you believe that Christ is present in the bread and wine you are welcome to commune.

Lent 2012

Lent 2012 - Watchers on the Hill
Ash Wednesday- Feb 22, 2012 Worship 7:00

WATCHERS ON THE HILL is a chancel play for the Lenten season presented in eight short acts. The play brings worship participants to the foot of the cross on the day of Jesus’ crucifixion, as a series of characters—some historical, some fictitious—come face to face with the reality of Christ’s death through the lens of their own unique perspectives. With the cross as the focal point and the final words of Jesus as the binding thread, each two-person act takes worshippers another step closer to the final moments of his life, all the while exploring and celebrating God’s amazing plan to save His people. The acts are woven together through the use of Scripture and the Gospel-grounded reflections of a Narrator.
